Safe Kids Kootenai County partnered with McDonalds to distribute 300 free Happy Meal coupons to local police and fire departments. These agencies are looking for kids wearing their helmets while riding bikes and scooters this fall.
“This program allows law enforcement, fire agencies and crossing guards to issue free Happy Meal coupons rewarding those children found riding their bicycle, scooter or skateboard safely,” Donna Kalanick, Kootenai Health injury prevention coordinator, said.
The participating area agencies are: Safe Kids Kootenai County, Coeur d’Alene Fire Department, AD/APT Prosthetics and Orthotics, Jump Start Pediatric Therapy, Kootenai County Fire and Rescue, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department, Kootenai Health, Mountain States Early Head Start, North Idaho College Head Start, Northern Lakes Fire Department, and Panhandle Health District.
“Our vision is to eliminate unintentional injury and death to children in our region,” Kalanick said.
