Kootenai Health offers a wide range of nutrition services for our patients. Proper nutrition is essential to healing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Medical Nutrition Therapy
A team of qualified inpatient dietitians provides medical nutrition therapy for Kootenai Health patients. Medical nutrition therapy is an individualized plan of healthy eating based on each patient’s nutritional needs and medical history.
Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) are food and nutrition experts who translate the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healing and disease management. They are a credible and reliable source of accurate nutrition information and work closely with the healthcare team to support patient care throughout hospitalization.
Nutrition Support
Inpatient dietitians assess, monitor, and manage patients’ nutritional status during their hospital stay. This includes developing and adjusting nutrition care plans, providing specialized nutrition support when needed, and offering education to support recovery and ongoing health.
Room Service
Patients have access to room service with meals tailored to their dietary needs. Patients or a designated family member may order meals by calling (208) 625-6655 or by using the GetWell system in the patient’s room. Room service is available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with meals delivered directly to the patient’s room.
Learn More
Nutrition education is provided as part of inpatient care to support recovery and promote healthy lifestyle habits. Patients interested in continuing nutrition care after discharge may request a list of dietitians who provide outpatient services. For more information, speak with your care team.
