We pride ourselves on delivering superior quality care to our patients.
At Kootenai Health, we believe in the power of the nurse-patient relationship and believe true caring is an essential function of helping patients heal.
Magnet Designation
One of the ways in which Kootenai Health pursues excellence is through Magnet™ designation. Magnet designation is nursing’s top honor and is accepted nationally as the gold standard for nursing excellence. Hospitals must apply every four years to renew this designation. Kootenai Health is proud to have achieved its fourth Magnet designation.
Magnet hospitals represent a select group of hospitals that have successfully undergone a rigorous, multi-faceted evaluation conducted by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Kootenai Health is proud to maintain Magnet designation and continue striving for excellence.
Shared Governance
As an organization, we have committed to a shared governance style of leadership which means our frontline staff members are empowered to make many key decisions relating to patient care. We do this by creating interdependent specialty councils that report to our Professional Nursing Coordinating Council: Nursing Quality and Practice Council, Nursing Work Environment Council, and Night Shift Council.
Shared governance has resulted in increased employee satisfaction, better patient safety and care, increased professional autonomy, greater patient satisfaction, and shorter lengths of stay for patients.
