Summary
My philosophy of care is rooted in providing compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centered care to every individual and family I serve. As an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in the intensive care unit, I recognize that critical illness impacts not only the patient but also their loved ones. I strive to deliver expert clinical care while fostering open communication, empathy, and respect for each person’s values, goals, and dignity.
I believe the best medical decisions are made through a shared decision-making process that honors each patient’s wishes and overall goals of care. My role is to provide clear, evidence-based information about treatment options, risks, benefits, and alternatives while ensuring patients and families have the opportunity to ask questions and actively participate in important healthcare decisions. I am committed to advocating for patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives and ensuring that care plans align with their values and best interests.
Excellence in critical care requires a balance of advanced medical knowledge, sound clinical judgment, and genuine human connection. I work closely with physicians, nurses, therapists, dietitians, and other multidisciplinary team members to provide safe, coordinated, high-quality care. Supporting families through complex medical situations is an important part of my practice, and I strive to offer guidance, compassion, and reassurance throughout the process.
My path to critical care began during my nine years as an ICU registered nurse, where I developed a deep appreciation for the complexity of critical care medicine and the profound impact skilled, compassionate providers can have on patients and families. That experience inspired me to become an Advanced Practice Provider so I could take a more active role in diagnosing, managing, and guiding the care of critically ill patients. Combining advanced medical training with my bedside nursing experience allows me to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care during life’s most challenging moments.
Practicing in the hospital that serves my hometown is a privilege that carries special meaning. I have the opportunity to care for neighbors, friends, and members of the community that helped shape me. This connection strengthens my commitment to treating every patient with the same compassion, respect, and dedication that I would want for my own family. Through lifelong learning, clinical excellence, and compassionate service, I strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of my patients and their families every day.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our young son, and our Mini Australian Shepherd. As a family, we love spending time outdoors camping, hiking, kayaking, and snowboarding.
