Summary
My philosophy of care is built on partnership, respect, and a commitment to helping patients live their fullest lives. I believe patients should be active participants in their healthcare, and I work closely with each individual to develop personalized care plans that reflect their goals, priorities, and values. Open communication is essential, and I encourage collaborative discussions that include family members and loved ones when appropriate.
I strive to build meaningful, lasting relationships with my patients—not only as their healthcare provider, but also as a fellow member of the community. Understanding each person’s unique circumstances allows me to provide care that is both compassionate and effective.
Neurologic conditions are often complex and can affect many aspects of a person’s life. That’s why I take a comprehensive approach to care, coordinating with other healthcare professionals, identifying and addressing care gaps, and connecting patients with trusted local and regional resources when additional support is needed. Whether through preventive screenings, education, nutrition support, or specialty referrals, my goal is to ensure patients receive the care they need at every stage of their journey.
When discussing treatment options, I prioritize patient preferences and encourage shared decision-making. I focus on the least invasive, most effective approaches whenever possible and regularly review medications and treatment plans to ensure they remain appropriate and aligned with each patient’s goals. Together, we weigh the benefits and risks of available options to determine the best path forward.
I chose to become a neurology nurse practitioner because I have always been fascinated by the complexity of the brain and nervous system and the profound impact neurological conditions can have on patients and their families. Early in my nursing career, I cared for individuals living with stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and other neurologic disorders. I witnessed firsthand how knowledgeable, attentive care can improve function, independence, and quality of life.
What continues to inspire me about neurology is the unique blend of science, critical thinking, and human connection. I value the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients, guide them through complex diagnoses, and support them as they navigate life’s challenges. Helping patients maintain independence, achieve their goals, and improve their quality of life is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
Outside of the clinic, I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially fishing and golfing.
