Kootenai Health’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) training program was feature in the Coeur d’Alene Press.
Kootenai Health launched the SANE training program to help train nurses at Kootenai Health, and across the region, to better care for pediatric and adult victims of sexual assault. It is one of only five forensic examination courses available west of the Mississippi.
Megan Lorincz, manager of the Forensic Nurse Examiner program for Kootenai Health, applied for, and was awarded, a federal grant last year to help launch the training program. The mission of Lorincz and her team is to not only help other nurses feel comfortable performing these exams, but help victims begin their journey to healing.
