Diseases and disorders affecting the nerves, muscles, and the neuromuscular junction are called neuromuscular disorders. Neuromuscular disorders can be hereditary disorders such as Muscular Dystrophy or Charcot Marie Tooth, or acquired disorders such as Guillian-Barre Syndrome or Myasthenia Gravis. Common symptoms include sensory loss, muscle weakness, muscle atrophy, difficulty chewing and swallowing.
The team of caregivers at Kootenai Health is focused on providing comprehensive multidisciplinary care to help identify, diagnose and treat complex neuromuscular disorders with the most up-to-date therapies and diagnostic modalities available.
What Sets Kootenai Health Apart
APPROACH: Our treatment approach focuses on patients’ needs and goals through a collaborative relationship between the patient, physician, family, and the other members of the care team.
VIRTUAL VISITS: We integrate telemedicine technology to offer complex, individualized care while reducing the burden of travel to make follow-up appointments more convenient for our patients
GENETIC TESTING: Genetic testing is performed more frequently and earlier in a patient’s care journey to open up opportunities for enrollment in clinical trials and to make available the most cutting edge therapies as they are developed.
SPECIALTY PHARMACY: Our Specialty Pharmacy team helps streamline the treatment process to help navigate complex insurance processes, perform prior authorizations and appeals, and help grant access to special programs to help with drug pricing and copay assistance when needed.
