Indigo Urgent Care Opening in Coeur d’Alene
Kootenai Health is pleased to partner with MultiCare Health System to open a new urgent care clinic in northern Idaho aimed at increasing access to care. Indigo Urgent Care, a Washington-based clinic featuring virtual and in-person urgent care services, will open in the crossroads shopping center this spring. As Kootenai County’s population has continued to grow, this clinic will help expand health care services to meet the needs of the community.
This joint venture is not a move toward a merger or acquisition. While working collaboratively, both organizations are independent, community-based health care providers. Kootenai Health currently operates three Kootenai Urgent Care locations in Kootenai County and MultiCare has 40 Indigo Urgent Care clinics in Washington State, including seven urgent care clinics in the Spokane region. These locations will continue to serve the community along with the new Indigo.
Indigo is known for their unique urgent care experience that combines a modern environment and concierge-level service with comprehensive care for minor illnesses and injuries. The clinics are open every day, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and offer easy online booking for same-day and next-day appointments. Indigo treats a wide variety of minor injuries and illnesses – sore throats, ear infections, allergies, rashes, small cuts that may require stitches, sprains and minor fractures, just to name a few. All Indigo clinics include onsite labs and digital x-ray.
“Kootenai Health has been working for many years to improve access to care in northern Idaho,” said John Weinsheim, Executive Vice President of Kootenai Clinic. “Even with all our good efforts, more is needed. In 2022 alone, Kootenai Urgent Care’s three locations had more than 55,000 patient visits. Given current market challenges, meeting the need for increased access to health care requires an innovative solution.”
Kootenai Health and MultiCare have done other previous work together. In 2022, Kootenai Health adopted MultiCare’s instance of the Epic electronic health record. The two organizations have also worked together on group purchasing efforts and behavioral health initiatives.
“We are thrilled to introduce Indigo to the thriving Coeur d’Alene community and partner with the world-class team at Kootenai,” said Ryan Fix, President of Retail Health at MultiCare. “We’ve listened to feedback from northern Idaho residents and we are excited to create more access to high quality care with digital features such as online booking and virtual visits.”
The Coeur d’Alene Indigo will be located near WinCo at 2836 N. Ramsey Road and will open in May 2023. The joint venture will contract with the Indigo operations team to manage day-to-day operations and employ the providers and staff. Indigo will provide additional needed access to care for northern Idaho with a retail driven approach that allows for on-demand care through scheduled, walk-in, and virtual visits.
