Summary
Ashley Otto was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. After graduating high school, she worked at Kootenai Health as a CNA on the Oncology floor. During this time she attended North Idaho College to obtain her nursing degree. Upon graduation she worked as an outpatient oncology nurse and obtained her certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN). She realized during this time that she wanted to further her education in the field and decided to obtain her Doctorate in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner. She attended the University of Mary but was able to complete her clinical hours in the local Coeur d’Alene community. She was excited to have the opportunity to be a student with Dr. Paul White from for her first specialty rotation and the Kootenai Health Oncology team brought her back as a student for her final practicum. Following her Doctorate Degree she joined the team here at Kootenai Clinic Cancer Services. She is also certified as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP).
Ashley works closely with the Kootenai Health team of Oncologists/Advanced Practice Providers and their patients to provide the best care she can. With her nursing background, she takes pride in providing care that exceeds their medical diagnosis and aims to meet mental, emotional and physical care needs with compassion. With a personal history of thyroid cancer and extensive oncology background through her nursing career she finds passion in helping others navigate these trying times.
Ashley and her husband, Dirk, have four young children. They are frequent patrons of the local libraries and enjoy attending their children’s extracurricular activities. Ashley’s parents and three sisters (and their families) are also local and she spends much of her free time with them. In her free time, Ashley spends time with her children, can be found enjoying a good book, or volunteering in the community (favorite past events include Ironman Medical Tent, CDA School District Vision Screenings, and the PTA).
