A fracture is a broken bone. It is defined by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons as “a disruption in the integrity of a bone.” Fractures often happen when a bone is impacted by more force or pressure than it can support. Fractures can be caused by prolonged activity over time, or they can also be an instantaneous injury. There are several ways a bone may fracture, including crosswise, lengthwise, spiral, or even in multiple pieces.
Common fractures include:
- Clavicle Fractures
- Forearm Fractures (Distal Radius)
- Hip Fractures
- Ankle Fractures
