Kootenai Health is working closely with Regence BlueShield to renew our contract and ensure continued in-network access for Regence members. Our shared goal is to reach a favorable agreement before the end of the year—one that supports both organizations and protects access to high-quality, local care for our community.
As the only hospital in the region, Kootenai Health plays a vital role in serving patients across northern Idaho. While Regence’s current proposal falls below the reimbursement levels offered by other insurance providers, we are optimistic that ongoing discussions will lead to a resolution that aligns with industry benchmarks and supports the sustainability of care.
“These negotiations are not unusual, and similar conversations are happening at hospitals across Idaho and the country,” said Michele Bouit, Chief Financial Officer at Kootenai Health. “We’re committed to reaching an agreement that reflects the value of care we provide and ensures our patients can continue receiving services close to home.”
If a new agreement is not reached by January 1, 2026, Kootenai Health may be considered out-of-network for Regence members.
Community members with Regence insurance are encouraged to contact Regence directly at (888) 367-2117 to voice their concerns and advocate for continued in-network access to Kootenai Health. For more information and answers to frequently asked questions, please visit kh.org/regence-faq or call Kootenai Health’s designated hotline at (208) 625-6228.
Kootenai Health appreciates the community’s support and remains hopeful that a resolution will be reached soon.
