Summary
Dr. Gilberts practice philosophy is to offer personal, compassionate, state-of-the-art medical and surgical care, treating each individual patient as he would his family. He grew up in La Grande and Salem, Oregon. He attended University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, graduating magna cum laude with honors in History and a minor in Spanish. His undergraduate medical training was taken at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. He graduated cum laude and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed one year of General Surgery training at University of Utah, followed by four years of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery specialty training, also at University of Utah. Dr. Gilbert is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology through 2025.
Dr. Gilbert joined St. Joseph’s Ear Nose and Throat Clinic in 2004. He regularly pursues continuing education, and is committed to providing you with complete, compassionate, state-of-the-art treatment for the full spectrum of ear, nose, throat and head and neck disorders. Areas of interest include thyroid and parathyroid disorders, head and neck tumors, sinus and allergy care (including allergy testing, immunotherapy, and sinus surgery), chronic ear infection and hearing loss conditions (including hearing testing and hearing aid dispensing services), pediatric ENT problems, snoring and sleep apnea, voice and swallowing disorders.
Dr. Gilbert recently served as chair-elect and then chairman of the Surgery Department of Kootenai Health, among other hospital committee involvements. He is a diplomate of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and member of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, American Rhinologic Society, American Medical Association, and Kootenai-Benewah Medical Society. Outside of medicine, he enjoys any form of outdoor activity, particularly skiing, running, mountain biking, backpacking, mountaineering, and spending time with his wife and four children.
