Summary
I believe that caring for a patient is a true partnership. Building trust and understanding starts with taking the time to get to know each person, their unique circumstances, and what matters most to them. Obstetrics allows for this relationship to develop naturally over the course of a pregnancy, giving us the opportunity to work together and create a thoughtful plan of care. My goal is for every patient to feel heard, respected, and actively involved in decisions about their health.
Respect for each patient’s values, preferences, and cultural background is essential. Open communication and collaboration help ensure that care decisions reflect what is most important to the patient and their family. Sometimes the care team includes many specialists, and sometimes it is simply the patient and their provider working closely together. In every case, the goal is the same: achieving the best possible outcome for both mother and baby.
Continuity of care is also an important part of my approach. I work closely with other healthcare providers to ensure that every aspect of a patient’s health is addressed. When specialized expertise is needed, I coordinate with trusted colleagues and regional partners to bring the right resources together. Whenever possible, I strive to help patients receive the care they need close to home.
When developing a treatment plan, I believe it is important to carefully review all available options, including both medical and surgical approaches. Patients deserve clear information about the risks and benefits of each option so they can make informed decisions. My role is to provide guidance, answer questions, and support patients as they choose the path that is right for them.
I chose obstetrics, and particularly Maternal Fetal Medicine, because it allows me to care for patients over an extended period of time and build meaningful relationships along the way. Pregnancy is an exciting and transformative experience, but it can also bring unexpected challenges. Helping patients navigate that journey safely while caring for both mother and baby is a responsibility and privilege that I take very seriously.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and my two dogs. I love being outdoors and take every opportunity to hike, ski, garden, and spend time on or near the water. Living in Coeur d’Alene makes it easy to enjoy all of those things.
