Summary
Dr. Ed Rooney was born and raised in Clarkston, Washington. After graduating from Washington State University, his study of medicine took him to Michigan and North Carolina. His love of the Pacific Northwest and desire to provide exceptional patient care brough him to Kootenai Health.
Dr. Rooney is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon. In addition to the training he received in medical school and his five-year residency in orthopedics, Dr. Rooney has additional extensive specialty training in treating a variety of traumas and disorders of the foot and ankle. He is especially skilled at treating complex problems, including conditions such as arthritis, lower extremity deformity, and ankle instability, which are common problems that patients may have been unable to find help for previously. He is often able to perform procedures that allow patients to return to doing the things they love.
Dr. Rooney is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons as well as the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society. He is also a peer review editor for the European Journal of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology.
When he is not treating patients, Dr. Rooney enjoys golf, tennis, hiking, pickleball, watching his WSU Cougars on the football field, and enjoying time with his wife and young family.
