Neurology

Conditions that affect how you move, think, and live. Specialists who focus on nothing else.

Neurology

General and subspecialty neurology—epilepsy, MS, ALS, stroke, and beyond.

Neurological conditions have a way of impacting everything. From how you move or think, to how you live your life. For many across the region, finding subspecialty expertise used to mean traveling far and wide. Not anymore.

Kootenai Health Neurology provides specialized neurological care for patients throughout North Idaho, WA, MT and Western Oregon. General neurology and subspecialty expertise under one program—including epilepsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS), movement disorders, and neuromuscular conditions. Whether you're here for a first evaluation or years into managing a condition, your neurologist works with you to understand what's happening and guide next steps over time. That includes a full range of diagnostic testing—EEG, nerve conduction studies, continuous inpatient epilepsy monitoring, and more. When something beyond neurology is needed, we partner closely with other brain and spine specialists at Kootenai Health for surgery, rehabilitation, or long-term functional support for your ongoing treatment needs.

Diagnostics & Evaluation

Neurological conditions are evaluated through clinical assessment and targeted diagnostic testing to understand how the brain, spine, nerves, or muscles are affected.

  • Clinical evaluation includes a neurological exam and review of symptoms to guide next steps
  • EEG and EMU monitor brain activity; EMU provides continuous inpatient monitoring for difficult-to-diagnose seizures
  • Electrodiagnostic studies (EMG and nerve conduction studies) assess nerve and muscle function
  • Advanced imaging supports evaluation of the brain, spine, and vascular system

Results are used together to confirm diagnosis and guide treatment planning.
