Vascular Surgery
Vascular Surgery
Advanced vascular treatment—from minimally invasive procedures to complex repair of arteries and veins
Healthy blood flow is essential to overall wellness. Vascular surgery focuses on diagnosing and treating conditions that affect blood vessels and circulation throughout the body.
Vascular surgeons use vascular ultrasound, CT and MRI imaging to see how blood flows through your body, helping them diagnose vascular disorders and create a personalized treatment plan focused on minimally invasive procedures when possible.
Our vascular surgery team at Kootenai Clinic offers a full spectrum of support, from routine in-office and minimally invasive procedures to highly complex life-saving surgeries. We focus on the safest, most effective outcomes with the least amount of disruption to your daily life.
Using advanced endovascular techniques and a hybrid operating room, our multidisciplinary team of surgeons can treat many conditions through small incisions, often resulting in less strain on the body, shorter hospital stays, and a faster return to your normal routine.
Whether treatment involves medical management, a minimally invasive procedure, or surgery, our goal is the same: to improve your circulation for your life today. And strong for the years ahead.

Conditions
We diagnose and treat a wide range of blood vessel problems that affect either arteries (which carry blood away from the heart) or veins (which return blood to the heart).
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm
- Aortoiliac occlusive disease
- Carotid artery disease – arteries in the neck that supply blood to the brain
- Peripheral artery disease (PAD) – poor blood flow to the legs
- Claudication (leg pain when walking)
- Renal vascular disease
- Visceral artery disease
- Thoracic outlet syndrome – pressure on blood vessels near the shoulder
- Diabetic ulcers and limb-threatening wounds
- Aneurysms (carotid, popliteal, visceral) – weak or bulging blood vessels
- Venous disease
- Varicose veins
Diagnostics & Monitoring
Advanced imaging to evaluate blood flow, vessel structure, and disease progression:
- Vascular ultrasound – Uses sound waves to look at blood flow in your arteries and veins and help identify blockages, clots, or aneurysms. Learn more about vascular imaging.
- CT angiography (CTA) – Provides detailed images of blood vessels
Diagnostic angiograms when further evaluation is needed – A specialized X-ray to closely examine blocked or narrowed arteries and allows for immediate treatment of the vessel
Treatments & Procedures
Our team stays current on emerging endovascular techniques to ensure patients have access to the most advanced treatment options.
