From medications such as buprenorphine and naltrexone to outpatient withdrawal management, we offer treatment based on your health, symptoms and goals. And when you need more support, we connect you with behavioral treatment, recovery programs and different levels of care.

Our Services

Conditions We Treat

Kootenai Clinic Addiction Medicine provides medical treatment and support for alcohol and drug use concerns, including:

  • Alcohol use disorder
  • Opioid use disorder
  • Benzodiazepine use
  • Stimulant use
  • Kratom use
  • Other substance use concerns

Your provider will work with you to understand your needs and determine which treatment options may be appropriate.

Medication Treatment

Medication can be an important part of treatment for alcohol and opioid use disorders. Your provider will work with you to determine whether medication is appropriate based on your health and needs.

Treatment options may include:

  • Naltrexone, including extended-release injection options
  • Buprenorphine, including extended-release injection options
  • Buprenorphine induction
Withdrawal & Medication Changes

For some patients, withdrawal can be managed safely in an outpatient setting. Our Addiction Medicine team can also provide medical guidance when reducing or stopping certain medications.

Services include:

  • Outpatient withdrawal management for a range of substances
  • Consultation for reducing or stopping benzodiazepines
  • Consultation for reducing or stopping opioids

If you need a higher level of support for alcohol or opioid withdrawal, your team can help connect you with the appropriate treatment.

Recovery & Next Steps

Medical treatment may be one part of your recovery. We’ll help you understand what additional support may be appropriate and connect you with other treatment when needed.

Support may include:

  • Assessment to determine the appropriate level of treatment
  • Referrals to substance use treatment programs in North Idaho
  • Harm reduction services
  • Narcan distribution

For continued treatment, you may also be connected with Kootenai Health’s Intensive Outpatient Program or other recovery resources.
