Women’s Imaging Center

What if women's imaging felt different?

Women’s Imaging Center

Women's imaging, shaped by the women who use it.

Mammograms and bone density scans probably aren't appointments you look forward to. We understand that. That's why we've made annual mammograms easy at Kootenai Health. Walk into either of our Women's Imaging Centers for your annual screening mammogram. No appointment needed.

The Women's Imaging Center was designed with input from the women who would actually be sitting in the exam room, from how the space feels to how your visit is scheduled. You can also complete your mammogram and bone density screening in the same appointment, making it easier to prioritize your health without adding another trip.

Throughout your visit, you'll be cared for by board-certified sonographers with specialized breast imaging credentials and ARRT-certified technologists who explain what to expect, answer your questions, and guide you through each step.

Advanced imaging matters. So does how you're treated while you're here. At Kootenai Health, we've designed both with you in mind.

Our Services

3D Screening Mammography
Mammograms are X-ray exams taken of the breast and are most often used to screen for breast cancer in women who have no symptoms.

Diagnostic Mammography
Mammograms and other breast imaging tests can also be used in women experiencing symptoms like pain, a lump, or a suspicious change seen on a screening mammogram.

Breast Ultrasound
Breast ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of breast tissue. It's non-invasive and often used as a follow-up after an unclear finding on a mammogram, breast MRI, or clinical breast exam—and it can also help guide a needle biopsy when one is needed.

ABUS (Automated Breast Ultrasound)
ABUS is a supplemental ultrasound for women with dense breasts. Used along with your screening mammogram, it images the entire breast to provide a more complete look at dense breast tissue and may help find areas that are harder to see on a mammogram. Talk with your provider to see if ABUS is right for you.

Breast MRI
Breast MRI captures detailed images that can reveal breast conditions that mammography or ultrasound alone may not show. It's especially valuable for women with dense breast tissue or a higher risk of breast cancer, offering an additional layer of detection.

3D Mammography Screening and Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) equipment, made possible through the generous support of Kootenai Health Foundation donors.
