I believe great geriatric care begins with listening. I take the time to understand each patient’s unique circumstances, values, cultural background, and goals so we can build a true partnership in care. By encouraging open conversations and involving loved ones when appropriate, we create personalized care plans that reflect what matters most to each individual. My goal is to help patients feel heard, respected, and empowered to play an active role in their healthcare decisions.

As a geriatrician, my approach focuses on the whole person. I believe the best outcomes are achieved by considering not only medical conditions, but also the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social factors that influence health and well-being. I work closely with other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care, carefully evaluate medications and potential interactions, and emphasize evidence-based treatments, lifestyle medicine, and deprescribing when appropriate. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual’s priorities, with an emphasis on safety, quality of life, and meaningful outcomes.

I chose geriatrics and memory care because it offers the privilege of caring for individuals whose lives reflect remarkable strength, resilience, and wisdom. Over more than 30 years of practice, I’ve found deep purpose in helping older adults and their families navigate the challenges of aging, including Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Even in the face of these conditions, I believe there is always room for hope, compassion, and meaningful quality of life.

Outside of work, I enjoy sharing good food with good company, learning about different cultural traditions, and appreciating the beauty of God’s creation throughout North Idaho.
