I believe the patient is the main character in their health story, and my role is to be a trusted guide and partner. The most important thing I can do is listen—truly listen—to what you are sharing and why it matters to you. From there, I offer my expertise, explain options, and recommend next steps so we can move forward together with a shared vision. Follow-up is essential, as staying connected allows me to adjust plans as needed and build relationships that go beyond a single appointment.
Continuity of care has a direct impact on your health. As a parent who has navigated serious medical challenges with my own children, I have seen how vital consistent communication and access to care truly are. When patients, families, and providers stay connected, care becomes more effective and far less stressful. At the Family Medicine Residency Clinic, we are committed to this principle by offering urgent access for our patients every day of the week and encouraging direct communication with our team through MyChart. These strategies reduce fragmentation and improve outcomes.
Respect is at the heart of excellent care. Every patient brings unique experiences, values, and perspectives to their health journey. My role is not to convince you that my way is the only way but to listen, understand your goals and beliefs, and create a true partnership in moving your care forward.
When it comes to treatment, I begin with the least invasive, most effective options whenever possible. I regularly review medications and explore alternatives, while also ensuring patients understand the full range of non-medical and non-surgical interventions available. When needed, I also guide patients through medications, diagnostic testing, and referrals to specialists. My commitment is to make every decision together through open communication and shared understanding.
My path to family medicine began early. Growing up in rural central Idaho, I saw how Nurse Practitioners often served as the only health care providers in their communities. Their presence inspired me as a teenager to pursue nursing. During my training, I was drawn to family medicine because of the long-term relationships it builds, often spanning generations. Today, it is an honor to serve families in my own community in that same way.
Outside of work, my husband and I love spending time outdoors with our two young boys. We enjoy mountain biking, hiking, running, paddle boarding, camping, and exploring the beautiful spaces around our home. If you’re out on the local trails, you might even see me running with my little dog, Lluna.
