Summary
Joseph Bowen grew up on the Palouse. At a young age, he developed a passion for flight and a love of open spaces. He graduated with degrees in Bioengineering from Walla Walla College in 2000 and his medical degree from Loma Linda University in 2004. Dr. Bowen continued his studies at Loma Linda University in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery completing residency in June of 2009 with high honors.
Dr. Bowen is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He enjoys a broad spectrum of practice including all aspects of the musculoskeletal system. Areas of subspecialty interest include total joint replacement (hips, knees, and shoulders), trauma, sports medicine, hand surgery, pediatrics, and disorders of the foot and ankle.
Dr. Bowen is happily married and has three wonderful children. His other interests include aviation, rocketry, remote control planes, gardening, and outdoor adventure sports like skiing, hiking, and cycling. He is also an avid musician playing the fiddle, guitar, and banjo whenever he has free time.
Dr. Bowen’s broad experience in mechanical devices, his education in the arts and sciences, and personal background mean that visits are often spent connecting on a personal level, framing a diagnosis in light of the whole person. Patients should come to their appointment with an open mind and a desire to learn about their body. Questions are encouraged. Dr. Bowen is accepting new patients from all insurance carriers.
