I was sent to Kootenai ER to get an IV of fluids by a home nurse that I currently have because of a recent major surgery. Monday morning are busy in the ER but wad able to get a bed and Get Fluids and potassium and Gatorade. Thank you ERIC you are awesome and an asset to Kootenai ER. Buy the way there is no IV fluids at any Urgent care in town. Crazy sad. But my drive to Kootenai wad worth it.
Waiting room a nightmare. After several hours and in exam room staff and Dr Achatz very helpful and caring , labs were done quickly.
Dr.Eric Achatz was friendly, attentive AND open to requests/suggestions (I have a medical background as a P.A.), which is hard for some M.D.s to do. ALSO: he was not using a computer when talking to me about my medical issue that I had come in with....THAT is a real treat now-a-days....a provider who LOOKS at the patient the entire time during the communication! I just wish the nurse would have cared enough to put a sheet on the plastic bed and lift the leg rest without me asking, so I could elevate my affected lower leg.
I was in Kootenai ER on a busy Saturday morning! My first time there. They have a very efficient checkin process and I got there at a lull so perfect timing! I was in a lot of pain and fortunately they quickly got me back and medicated. I had to wait for imaging and it seemed like an eternity! I think I was there from 10am until about 4:15pm! They were very busy! I was just tired and had been dealing with pain and lack of sleep for days!! Each member of staff that I interacted with was attentive, caring, patient, friendly and professional!! I’m a Veteran and usually get great care at the VA but feel fortunate Kootenai is nearby as a great alternative when I need emergency care!
Be prepared for long lines at emergency, but resonable amount of time once admitted, so if in a lot of pain, which I was, once admitted did bring an ibuprofen, which was ineffective. MD said there was no issue with my jaw, according to c-span! pain level remained for two more days after (level 8-9)and thankfully they gave a prescription for hydrocodeine. Very thankful for that.
Dr. Achatz was amazing with my 15 yr old daughter. He related with her and was very calm even as she was screaming in pain. He took the time to answer all her questions. The hospital was busy, and even though she came in by ambulance, they put her in the waiting room until a room came available. The check-in desk staff came across as uncaring.
He truly listened and took care of a very large hematoma on my leg. Thank you!
Kind, caring doctor. I received great care. Also, shout out to Amanda(?) who was an amazing nurse.
