Dr. McLandress Earns Leadership Excellence Award

Kootenai Health’s Richard McLandress, M.D., has been recognized for leadership excellence by the University of Washington Department of Family Medicine.

Dr. McLandress is one of 50 individuals and teams to be honored through this program, which is in its inaugural year. 

The University of Washington Department of Family Medicine Awards program coincides with the 50th anniversary of the department. The program highlights exceptional faculty and staff who have made remarkable contributions to the department, specialty and communities in the past 50 years.

The award categories are: Clinical Excellence; Educational Excellence; Leadership Excellence; Research Excellence; Staff Excellence; Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Excellence; and Chair Awards.

Dr. McLandress – who received his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine – has been treating and caring for patients in the Inland Northwest for 45 years. He has been a family medicine provider in the Coeur d’Alene area for more than 20 years and currently serves as the medical director of Kootenai Clinic Family Medicine Coeur d’Alene Residency.

In 2018, he received the WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho) Alumni Award for excellence in mentoring teaching, leadership and patient care.

Dr. McLandress serves as the physician representative on the Panhandle Health District Board of Health, on which he has served since 1985.
