Kootenai Health is proud to have started our PGY1 Pharmacy Residency in July 2014. The program has been granted accreditation status by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Our residency is affiliated with Washington State University, located only 30 miles away in Spokane, Washington, which provides an abundance of teaching opportunities and the possibility of obtaining a teaching certificate. Our program is also directly connected with Idaho State University, as we are a site for many of their IPPE and APPE students.
Our program offers a diverse experience in a community-based health system in northern Idaho. We offer learning experiences in internal medicine, critical care, cardiology, psychology, oncology, orthopedics, neurology, emergency medicine, infectious disease/antimicrobial stewardship, pediatrics/neonatology, administration, and ambulatory care through our Anticoagulation Clinic and partnership with Kootenai Health’s Family Medicine Residency program. The pharmacy department is also very excited to continue expanding its role in Kootenai Clinic.
Residents will be able to enjoy and be energized by our unbelievably beautiful, mountainous, river-connected and lake-filled surroundings and regional Wilderness Areas. Our community is ever-more education focused, with a high-ranking public school system, many private education opportunities, and an “education corridor” supported by major universities in the state of Idaho and the state of Washington.
Kootenai Health is committed our Pharmacy Residency program, and offers the residents the ability to grow into highly effective, competent professionals who will receive as much as they give throughout the residency year.
