Our nurses are the heart of our organization. Their hard work and commitment to patients elevate us to high levels of excellence in health care. If you want to be part of something big, we welcome you to join our team.
Journey to PTAP
The Nurse Residency program is currently on the journey to receive Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) accreditation through the American Nurses Credentialing Center! PTAP sets the global standard for residency or fellowship programs that transition registered nurses and advanced practice registered nurses into new practice settings. Incorporating PTAP evidence-based practices as a framework, the Kootenai Health Nurse Residency Program demonstrates excellence in transitioning nurses to new practice settings.
Nursing Annual Report
The 2021 annual report for nursing celebrates the extraordinary role nurses at Kootenai Health play in caring for our community and the outcomes that have been achieved as a result of their commitment to excellence. As our community has grown in size, so has the demand for exceptional nurses. It is often said that when teams are faced with a challenge that appears insurmountable it can serve to separate those who will merely survive from those who will thrive. Our professional nursing staff has shown others what it takes to thrive. They have remained a connected team even when external forces beyond their control sought to pull them apart; proof that Kootenai Health IS Magnet!
Nursing Excellence – Magnet Status
Kootenai has maintained Magnet® status since 2006 and in July 2021 received our 4th magnet re-designation! Magnet® designation is nursing’s top honor, accepted nationally as the gold standard in nursing excellence. Kootenai Health is the second hospital in Idaho to receive this designation and the first in the Inland Northwest.
As a Magnet® designated hospital, Kootenai Health has enjoyed yet another honor when we were selected for Magnet4Europe, a project funded by the European Union to improve mental health and wellness among nurses. Our involvement in Magnet4Europe provides an international platform for Kootenai Health nursing professionals to be recognized as leaders of innovation and excellence in the delivery of evidence-based care across the health care continuum.
We give you all the tools you need so you can find your own path to success. If you are interested in working in one of our specialty programs, you can contact a recruiter to discuss options, such as the Nurse Residency Program, Fellowship Program, OR 101 Course, or Leadership Academy.
