Nutrition Services offers "Eating for Two" and "Baby Steps"
Presented by Kootenai Health Dietitians, these two new classes educate parents-to-be and new parents on the importance of good nutrition throughout pregnancy and beyond.
Topics covered in the “Eating for Two" class include:
- Adequate nutrients for growth and development
- Guidelines for weight gain
- Calorie needs in pregnancy and after delivery
- Food safety
- Exercise recommendations
- Nutrition tips to help manage pregnancy side effects such as: constipation, heartburn or nausea

“Baby Steps” will cover recommendations surrounding breastfeeding and formula feeding your baby and how to know if your baby is getting enough to eat. By the end of this class you will be able to identify the signs of readiness to begin solids and how to start feeding; including proper advancement of food, foods to avoid and safety concerns. You will also gain an increased knowledge of feeding your child during times of changing eating habits and learn about your role in feeding your baby.
